What Happens When an Inbox Is Disconnected or Revoked?

An inbox can become unavailable either because you manually disconnect it from Salesgear or because the email provider suspends access. When this happens, Salesgear takes specific actions to prevent failed sends.

What happens immediately

  • All contacts assigned to the disconnected inbox are paused automatically

  • No new emails are sent from that inbox

This ensures emails are not attempted from an unavailable sender.

Impact on sequences

  • New sequences

    • If at least one inbox is connected, the default inbox is automatically added

    • If no inboxes are connected, the sequence will have no inbox assigned

  • Adding contacts to sequences

    • If a sequence has no inbox enabled, you’ll see an error when adding contacts

    • Assign an inbox in sequence settings and retry

Impact on existing contacts

  • Contacts in pending state are marked as failed

  • To recover them:

    1. Reconnect the inbox from Settings → Connected Inbox

    2. Failed contacts automatically move back to pending

    3. Scheduled emails resume without manual rework

Optional reassignment behavior

If enabled in sequence settings, contacts can be automatically reassigned to other active inboxes after a 15-minute wait period.

Refer to Reassigning Contacts from Revoked Inboxes for detailed logic.
