Why do I get the ‘connection failed’ error when I try to connect my Gmail with Salesgear?

You might face this error for two of the following reasons -

  1. The email account that you are trying to connect, has been suspended or there has been a recent password change.

  2. You're trying to connect an email account associated with a different Salesgear account.


So, how to solve these?

Reason 1: Either your email account has been suspended or you have changed your password recently.

Any of these situations will result in Salesgear losing access to your account. Please follow the below steps to connect your email account back to Salesgear -

  • Click on this link to navigate to the Google page that displays the sites and apps that have access to your Google account data.

  • On the top right corner below the browser's address bar, make sure if you have the right google account connected. Else, click on the account icon and choose the right email address.

  • Find Salesgear from the list and click on it.

  • Then click ‘remove access’.

  • Now go back to Salesgear and try connecting your email address again.

  • You’ll be able to connect successfully.

Reason 2: You are trying to connect an email address that has already been connected with another Salesgear account.

Solution:

Let’s consider a situation where you have connected abc@gmail.com to the Salesgear account 1. But then you are trying to connect the same address (abc@gmail.com) to another account, say Salesgear account 2.

This will throw you the “connection failed” error. To solve this problem, you’ll have to disconnect your email from Salesgear account 1 and try connecting with Salesgear account 2. It will work fine now.

Note: Once you disconnect your email account from Salesgear, all your emails will be paused temporarily.
