Contact stages help you understand where each contact stands in your sales journey.

Instead of treating all contacts the same, stages let you track progress - from first touch to active conversations so your outreach stays relevant and timely.

By using contact stages, you can:

  • See deal momentum at a glance

  • Prioritize follow-ups more effectively

  • Align outreach with a contact’s intent

  • Filter and act on contacts in bulk based on their current stage

Salesgear provides a set of default contact stages to get you started. You can customize these to match your sales process and even control which stages appear as quick filters in the Contacts view.

Default contact stages in Salesgear

Navigate to Settings → Contact settings → Contact stages to view the default stages, which include:

  • Bounced

  • Opted out

  • Contacted

  • Not contacted

  • Nurturing

  • Approaching

  • Negotiation

  • Unresponsive

  • Interested

You can rename any of these stages except Bounced and Opted out, as those are system-controlled.

Controlling stage visibility

You can decide which stages appear as quick filters in the Contacts section:

  • Turn on the visibility (eye icon) to show a stage in Contacts

  • Turn off visibility to hide it from quick filters

This keeps your workspace focused only on the stages you actively use.
